The Mission Behind the Mic

SlumDogg Millionaires was created by real estate pros and property managers, Desiree Doggett and Kayla Lamb, to make the world of rentals and investing less intimidating and a lot more fun. After years of managing hundreds of doors and building their own portfolios, they saw how many people were missing out simply because no one ever explained the “how” in plain language. On the show, they pull back the curtain on real deals, real mistakes, and real wins so you can learn how to “Survive, Thrive, & Retire by 45” using real estate and property management—no gatekeeping, just honest conversations and practical steps you can actually use.

Desiree Doggett
Desiree Doggett is a Sarasota-based REALTOR® and Community Association Manager (CAM) with nearly two decades of experience in international and U.S. real estate. She began her career in Costa Rica, helping establish the country’s first Multiple Listing Service (MLS) after earning her degree in International Relations from the University of Colorado at Boulder. That work laid the digital foundation for Costa Rica’s modern real estate market and led her to Sarasota, where she managed a 150‑property residential portfolio for a European investor group.
Today, Desiree oversees approximately 350 units across Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota counties, managing single‑family, multifamily, and condo‑hotel assets. Bilingual and deeply client‑focused, she mentors tenants into homeownership and guides investors through building long‑term, stable portfolios. She co‑founded the SlumDogg Millionaires Podcast to demystify property management and investing, and serves in leadership for the Sarasota/Manatee chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM), where she is Board Secretary. Recognized by her peers as “NextHomie of the Year” and affectionately nicknamed the “Mary Poppins of Real Estate,” Desiree is committed to turning real estate knowledge into real community impact.

Kayla Lamb
Kayla Lamb is a REALTOR® and property manager who brings a people‑first approach to every transaction. She launched her real estate career at 25, drawing on a diverse background that includes work as a veterinary technician and more than 15 years in the restaurant industry. That experience sharpened her ability to listen, problem‑solve, and advocate for others—skills she now uses to guide clients through buying, selling, and investing in real estate.
As a designated Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) with a Commitment to Excellence (C2EX), Kayla oversees the property management department at NextHome Excellence while also managing her own investment portfolio. She co‑founded the SlumDogg Millionaires Podcast with Desiree Doggett to make real estate education more accessible and help others “Survive, Thrive, & Retire by 45” through property management and investing. Known for her warmth, clear communication, and hands‑on support, Kayla is a trusted resource for first‑time homebuyers, seasoned investors, and landlords who want their properties managed with professionalism and care.
